Hiking and Mountaineering
In Norwegian, we call it tinderangling
Hiking may be the simplest way into nature. Put on your shoes, step outside and start walking.
But that same simplicity contains an entire world of adventure. A hike can be a half-hour stroll in the hills behind the lodge. Or it can become a full-day journey involving gentle trails, steeper terrain and exhilarating mountain summits high above the fjords and open sea.
That is what makes hiking so fascinating. It can hold both the smallest and the grandest adventures.
Around Andørja Lodge, you’ll find them all.

Your level, your guide
Guided activities in intimate groups of 6 guests are included in your stay. Our guides are here because they love these places – and because they love sharing them. They will listen to your ambitions, understand your experience and ability, and help find an adventure that feels right for you.
From hiking to mountaineering
Mountain scrambling at Andørja
You begin your day at sea level. Start ascending. Gain elevation. And set your sights on a spectacular objective somewhere high above you. As you approach the summit, things may become a little more interesting.
You move more carefully. Find your balance. Use your hands. Read the terrain. Use your body, and your head. You begin moving through places where walking alone is no longer quite enough.
Hiking at Andørja
Andørja is the most mountainous island in Northern Europe. Our local guides can take you on extraordinary day adventures to some of Andørja’s most spectacular summits. Langlitinden. Årbostadtinden. Snøtinden. Don’t they sound almost like poetry? Like fragments of an old Norse saga?
